// PAINTING

This new series of paintings is the beginning of an exploration into the idea of what is hidden in plain sight. A Japanese word that might describe this is Wabi-Sabi (侘寂). "Wabi-sabi" celebrates the natural, the flawed, and the understated—qualities often overlooked in pursuit of traditional notions of perfection.

These paintings are based on extreme close-ups of objects found in my everyday surroundings. You know it is a painting of something but you can't make out what it is exactly.
