// WE ARE DATA We Are Data is an ongoing project that began in August 2022 that uses 'the digital' to look at what it means to be human. The project uses a mix of electronic, painting and new media works, that reference data I gather from the internet and the physical world. Using various techniques the data is transformed and presented, to tell a story. This combination of mediums is presented as a ‘digital combine’, using different mediums including NFTs, layered on top of each other like a giant collage that can cover walls and floors. The installations are filled with information, and reference the overwhelming amount of data that can be accessed digitally and physically on any given topic on the internet or in real life. My work is process driven and falls under the umbrella of Metamodernist theory, which includes post digital and post internet concepts. |

It’s like we could be twins, 2022 Self adhesive poster, sound Made using Playform AI, this work started by introducing the AI to a self portrait of Sue Beyer. The AI then proceeded to create different versions of Sue Beyer by changing attributes of the person in the image. Some of the attributes edited include expressiveness, age, gender and attractiveness. I wonder what AI thinks is attractive. Photography: Christo Crocker |

CREEP (Looking at pictures of dead people), 2022 MP4, RGB LED Display, Sound Creep is made using a selection of images made by the Playform AI. The image is made using a combination of 36 images found on Google using the search term ‘Sue Beyer’. 35 of the images were portraits and one was a grave stone for a Sue Beyer who has died. I find these images disturbing and grotesque. They remind me of rotting corpses or demons from a horror story and have a strong affect on me. AI simultaneously fancinates and repels me. This oscilation places the work firmly in Metamodernism. Watch video on YouTube >>> Photography: Christo Crocker |
