Statement

Sue Beyer's work considers the façade of the ordered suburban environment. Her work is concerned with the effect that spaces and suburban settings have on an individual's emotions and behaviour. Sue's paintings are watchful, voyeuristic, and hint at the uneasy 'truth' that can be found in these urban landscapes.

Sue is also intrigued by the patterns we make on the surface of the earth and how we ‘own’ it, although our own existence is transitory.

Bio
During 2010 Sue will be studying her honours year in fine art at QCA, Griffith University, Brisbane. In 2007, as part of her studies, Sue took part in a 5 month study exchange at California State University and participated in two group shows while in San Francisco.

Sue has been a finalist in the Churchie Emerging art exhibition, the Clayton Utz Travelling Scholarship, won first prize in the RBWH Art Award in 2008 and was commissioned by the Qld State Governent for a public art project in 2009.

Sue is currently based in Brisbane, Australia and her work is held in private
collections internationally.
